Montenegrin FM in Azerbaijan on official visit

On November 25, 2010 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Rocen has arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit.

During the 2-day visit, the Minister had a number of meetings to discuss bilateral cooperation within international organizations.

November 26 Montenegro`s Foreign Minister Milan Rocen has visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev and the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.

Azerbaijan is living and developing in the economically and politically stable democratic environment. I believe that Azerbaijan`s sore point, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict would be solved on the basis of international legal norms and principles, Foreign Minister of Montenegro Milan Rocen told journalists during his visit.

He pointed out discussions during his meetings here will focus on development of political, economic relations, visa-free regime, international cooperation and other issues.

At the same day President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Foreign Minister of Montenegro Milan Rocen and his accompanying delegation.

M.Rocen expressed his satisfaction with the fact that his visit concurred with discovery of Umid gas filed in Azerbaijan. He described it as a great success of Azerbaijani President, scientists and landmark event of international importance. The Minister noted his country is keen on cooperating with Azerbaijan in all fields. He pointed out the main aim of his visit is to expand bilateral relations.

The Head of State stressed the importance of Umid field`s holding huge gas reserves.

The sides also sahred their views on development of bilateral relations in a variety of fields.

Azerbaijan`s and Montenegrin ministries of Foreign Affairs have signed an agreement to cancel visa requirements for those who hold diplomatic and service passports, and a protocol for cooperation between the two ministries.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the ministers discussed cooperation between the two countries in a number of fields, in particular economic and tourism ones.

E.Mammadyarov stressed the importance of developing cultural and educational relations between the two states. Minister highlighted the settlement process of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

M.Rocen expressed confidence for successful cooperation between Montenegro and Azerbaijan. The Montenegrin minister invited his Azeri counterpart to his country.
